Protesters in the United States are calling attention to more deaths of Black men
Two apparent lynchings in California and the shooting of a Black man in Atlanta, Georgia, by a white cop have prompted more protests in the wake of the killing of George Floyd by Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The killing of Rayshard Brooks has had rapid repercussions in Atlanta, one of many cities where protesters have called for an end to police violence and racism in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Garrett Rolfe, the officer who shot Brooks was fired and police chief Erika Shields resigned as exasperated protesters have called for justice. Roughly 150 protesters marched outside the Wendy's restaurant where Brooks was shot. The restaurant was set ablaze. Demonstrations also erupted over the weekend in Palmdale, California, where hundreds demanded an investigation into the death of Robert Fuller, 24, a Black man found hanging from a tree earlier Wednesday near city hall. Authorities said Fuller's death appeared to be a suicide. An autopsy was planned. It's hard to believe that Robert Fuller hung himself in front of the biggest American flag in town, right in front of the city hall, around the corner from the sheriff's department, across from a fire department and that no camera footage of the incident is available.  In recent years, Palmdale has been the site of KKK fliers and noose displays. Late last month, the body of Malcolm Harsch, 38, was also found hanging from a tree in Victorville, near a homeless campsite. Demonstrators are pressing officials to investigate the deaths and reveal whether the two were lynched. Nearly 5,000 lynchings occurred in the United States between 1882 and 1968, according to the NAACP.

Atlanta officer who shot Rayshard Brooks charged with felony murder
Brooks was shot in the back in a case that has unfolded amid turbulent protests across the U.S. over the treatment of Black people
On June 12, Atalanta police officer Garrett Rolfe shot Rayshard Brooks at a Wendy's restaurant parking lot. Brooks had been intoxicated and fell asleep in his car on the driveway. He died of the gunshots right away. Rolfe was fired and has now been charged with felony murder and 10 more charges. A second officer, Devin Brosnan, was placed on administrative leave. Brosnan, who is a cooperating witness for the state, faces three charges including aggravated assault and violation of oath. Rofle said "I got him." Brosnan stood on Brooks' body as he was lying dead on the ground and Rolfe kicked him. The 'I got him' and 'kicking' the victim after he was dead is what lead to the thoroughness of the presentation of Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard, which was stunning. Felony murder brings the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole.
